“Runnin’ for a Reason”: Henderson Rotaract to launch its 2nd 5K

HENDERSON, KY-Rotaract Henderson plans to draw runners downtown on Saturday June 20th when the

group stages its second annual “Runnin’ for a Reason”.

Rotaract is an international organization of young professionals and students that are committed to

service and leadership in their communities and abroad. 

Participants will have the choice of running or walking a 5K, with an option of being chipped timed at

this event. The event will start at Red Banks Park, then run up and through Atkinson Park, and finish

down Henderson’s beautiful river walk. Afterwards, make your way downtown to the W.C. Handy Blues

Festival for more food and great live music!

Registration is $25 until June 1st and $30 after June 1st. For those 18 and under the cost is $15.

Registration by June 1st guarantees a race t-shirt.

Registration and check-in begins at 8 a.m. the day of and the race will start promptly at 9 a.m.

“Runnin’ for a Reason is going to be a great time. We want it to be a fun family event, but also draw

serious runners.” states Ryan Wilkey, “We have the pleasure of having an event associated with the

W.C. Handy Blues Festival. We hope to raise a great amount of money this year for a local project.”

This year the money raised will go to help enhance a planned water feature at the new East End park on

the corner of Powell and Letcher Streets.
