HENDERSON, Ky, - Downtown Henderson is changing from month to month, and sometimes from day to day — and for those looking for new Christmas shopping opportunities, that’s good news, according to Downtown Henderson Partnership Executive Director Beth Strawn.

New businesses have opened, and at least one store moved into a bigger building. Meanwhile, several retailers have added new product lines as they seek to continually reinvent themselves to meet customer demand.

And Strawn announced a new promotion by the DHP — a free Love What’s Local Loyalty Card that will entitle holders to discounts at 18 downtown stores and restaurants during 2015.

“You can use them over and over,” Strawn told a Kyndle Brown Bag lunch audience Monday.

“We hope they’ll be in stores this week,” she said. They will also be available at local schools, banks, Methodist Hospital and the Big Rivers Electric Corp. headquarters.

Strawn brought scores of suggestions from several DHP member stores: cosmetics, Kentucky bourbon grilling sauce, chocolate-covered malted milk balls called Reindeer Noses, purses and clutches, women’s and children’s clothing, a refillable stick lighter for lighting candles or a charcoal grill, pet treats, wool socks, jewelry, handmade soaps and lotions, dark hot chocolate mix, a thermal U.K. cup and more.

“If there’s someone on your list you don’t know what to buy,” she recommended DHP gift certificates, which can be purchased in any denomination at its office at 131 N. Main St. and can be used to make purchases at 47 stores, restaurants and service providers.
