Position Title: MembershipSales Representative

 Classification:                        Overtime Exempt

 Status:                                    Full-time, At-will

Wage:                                     Base plus commission

Reports To: CEO 

Position Summary:

The Henderson Henderson County Chamber of Commerce is a division of KYNDLE.

Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for selling Chamber of Commerce memberships to prospective non-member businesses by communicating the benefits of the Chamber, providing detailed information on various programs offered through the Chamber, and orienting the stakeholder to the organization. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. 

  Position Requirements

  • Contact, acquire, and sell new Chamber memberships
  • Schedule appointments and personal visits with prospects
  • Achieve budgeted revenue goals
  • Comfortable working outside the office within Henderson County the majority of the time, with some necessary time in the office
  • Assist in the development of a New Member Orientation packet
  • Maintain knowledge of goals, objectives, and services provided by the organization 
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Communications and Marketing to create and sell advertising opportunities to new and existing members
  • Work collaboratively with the Events Coordinator to plan and execute ribbon cuttings for new and existing members
  • Assist in soliciting sponsorships, as needed, as a member benefit
  • Actively support and participate in KYNDLE events and programs
  • Assist and attend Commerce Council and Ambassadors’ meetings
  • Work renewal accounts and follow-up on past due invoices
  • Assists Chamber members in taking full advantage of their membership
  • Encourages member engagement in Chamber activities
  • Other duties as assigned by the CEO

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong organization, detail oriented, time management, and multi-tasking
  • Four-year degree preferred
  • Must have previous direct sales experience, two (2) or more years preferred
  • Self-starter with a professional appearance
  • Plan and manage a volunteer sales effort
  • Must have/maintain a dependable vehicle with proof of insurance and a valid driver’s license 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Input and maintain stakeholder information in membership database management
  • Develop and maintain a member retention program 
  • Develop and maintain a program to personally visit new businesses to welcome them to the community and provide them with information pertaining to the Chamber and its programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Think outside the box to offer new ideas, concepts, benefits, etc.
  • Capable of maintaining sensitive/confidential information
  • Exceptional people skills with an outgoing personality
  • Flexible schedule
  • Conduct business and personal actions according to KYNDLE values

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Increase membership retention rate based upon annual goals
  • Increase new member revenue based upon annual goals
  • Achieve a member satisfaction rating of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
